This Summer Camp takes place on the beautiful, modern campus of Carleton University, in the capital of Canada, Ottawa, in the province of Ontario.
English In Action offers its cusomers a quality educational and cultural experience in an enriching programme designed to encourage students from all over the world to develop conversational and written skills through formal class sessions and informal social settings.
The quality of the programme and of the trained team of staff together with a well structured curriculum and a wide range of activities make for gaining in knowledge, self assurance and for sparking off friendships which in many cases may last a lifetime. English In Action CARES about the student and we want them to excel and return home with results.
For this reason, as from this year, English In Action promotes the idea to bring these international students together with young Canadians who will be part of the camp life from the afternoons onwards, sharing activities and excursions, social evening and nightimes. In this way, with the help of the capable and numerous staff on the campus, friendships should be made and there should be a lot of interaction in English with native speakers on a constant basis.
English In Action students will receive 25 hours per week of English classes and will be taught by university graduates, 98% of which are certified classroom teachers at Canadian schools during the academic year. There will be two teams of teachers and coaches/monitors - during the day and another for the leisure activities after classes. In this way the staff will always be fresh and active to deal with the high level of energy that young students always have, right into the late evening.
There will be a fully supervised, well organised sports and leisure programme seven days a week, before and after dinner.Available to students are the tennis courts, the impressive olympic-size swimming pool, the magnificent gym, soccer fields and ice skating rink.
The modern dining room offers three meals a day, seven days a week and it is a buffet service and students may eat all they can. The diet is balanced and healthy, at the same time keeping to the type of food young children most like.
There will also be numerous, supervised off-campus activities, some are included in the programme and others will be optional and at a small extra price.
We realise that a student who comes all the way to Canada from, as an example, Europe or Asia, cannot possibly go home and not have seen certain places which are emblematic of Canada. Hence, the venue will put on educational, entertaining, organised vists to the historical cities of Montreal and Ottawa with its museums and parks and monuments and shopping centres and of course (optional and extra but at extremely good prices), weekend trips to Toronto and Niagara Falls with an overnight stay, due to the distance and in order for the children to get the most out of the visit.
Everything at this venue is focused on understanding the young students' need to have fun but at the same time to learn, not only the English language which is first and foremost but also about the culture and history of this great country and to mix interculturally with so many children of different nationalities. A life enriching experience which will bring, for years to come, such fond memories.
